Gas Turbine Performance Testing & Analysis

MD&A provides various performance testing & analysis solutions based upon the plant’s overall test objective.  Our turbine engineering focus is to determine the thermodynamic condition of your turbine and other components in the cycle.

Performance testing is used to quantify the reduction in performance as compared to reference performance.  Reference performance can be the original heat balance or a previous performance test.  The results of the test are used to provide recommendations on how to improve and maintain a high level of turbine performance.

Data can be collected from station instrumentation or temporary precision instrumentation.  Performance testing typically includes a thorough Thermographic Survey to ensure cycle isolation losses are accounted for in the performance analysis.

Our testing services are typically used for pre and post-outage testing, periodic performance monitoring, and troubleshooting specific plant performance deficiencies.

Thermodynamic Analysis is sometimes required to complete performance testing objectives by developing performance correction curves and help reconcile performance deficiencies by running what-if scenarios in the thermodynamic model.
