I have worked with nearly all components of Military, Commercial, and Industrial Gas Turbines (IGT).\u00a0 I started re-engineering aero components 15 years ago and have been re-engineering and bringing parts to market for the last 10 years.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u00a0What do you do here at MD&amp;A?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Here at MD&amp;A, I manage the development and production of aftermarket replacement alternatives for Siemens\u00ae V94 turbine components.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the most interesting challenge you have come across on a V94 component?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A continuing challenge when re-engineering a V94 or any component is to not duplicate a manufacturing error.\u00a0 It takes a solid knowledge of both design and manufacturing turbine components to be able to distinguish between an intentional geometry, or simply a drift in manufacturing from the origin design intent.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How does MD&amp;A work with the customer on component repair process?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Our team utilizes a multi-stage gate process, which provides the client with an important checkpoint to review the project\u2019s progress with our engineers. This partnership eliminates guesswork, enhances quality, and reduces repair times.\u00a0 Upon component repair completion, a final report is compiled &amp; transmitted to the client.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How can our unique coatings meet the unique challenges of gas turbine environments?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) applied on our repair and new parts by our San Antonio Service Center is one of the cornerstones of our success.\u00a0 Our coating is based on and further developed from the coating applied at our shop when it was a Pratt and Whitney\u00ae Military and Aerospace repair facility.\u00a0 With our coatings we support 33K EOH interval aftermarket components, effectively allowing us to extend the life of the part.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is your personal motto?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A Good Education Is Not Cheap, Or Easy<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Proprietary Notice: WARNING \u2013 This document is the property of MD&amp;A.\u00a0 You may not possess, use, copy or distribute this document or any information in it for any purpose, including without limitation to design, manufacture or repair parts, or obtain FAA or other government approval to do so, without MD&amp;A express written permission.
